Christian Food Addicts in Recovery Phone Meeting Format
Phone number: (712) 432-8808, pin 471545#
Intro: My name is..............................., a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, ................................................................, and your co-leader for this meeting. This is a recorded meeting. The play-back phone number to access the recording will be given at the end of the meeting after the recording stops.
Everyone is welcome at this meeting — people who want to explore their spirituality but are struggling with obsessive behavior and / or co-dependency. We welcome everyone here. We are non-judgmental. We share our personal experience, strength and hope using "I" or "for me" statements.
After a moment of silence, please join me in the long version of the Serenity Prayer. This group has voted to have the moderator lead the prayer while the members follow along reverently with their phones muted.
God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference;
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it;
Trusting that You will make all things right
If I surrender to your will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen
As a Christian recovery group we believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, and many of us have found the 12 steps and their Biblical comparisons helpful. Therefore at this time, may we have 2 volunteers to read the 12-Steps and their biblical comparisons?
l. We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable.
"I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out." (Romans 7:18)
2. We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
"For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." (Philippians 2:13)
3. We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God.
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship." (Romans 12:1)
4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
"Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord," (Lamentations 3:40)
5. We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." (James 5:16)
6. We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." (James 4:10)
7. We humbly asked Him to remove all our shortcomings.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
8. We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31)
9. We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift." (Mathew 5:23-24)
10. We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
"So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!" (1 Corinthians 10:12)
11. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and power to carry that out.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly." (Colossians 3:16)
12. Having had a spiritual experience as the result of these steps, we try to carry this message to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. " (Galatians 6:1)
Since the Twelve Traditions contain the spiritual principles that keep 12 step support groups focused on their primary purpose, may we have a volunteer to read the tradition of the month and the 12th tradition?
1. Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon Christian Food Addicts in Recovery unity.
2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority — a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.
3. The only requirement for Christian Food Addicts in Recovery membership is a desire to recover from addictive and co-dependent behaviors.
4. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or Christian Food Addicts in Recovery as a whole.
5. Each group has but one primary purpose — to carry its message to the food addict who still suffers.
6. A Christian Food Addicts in Recovery group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the Christian Food Addicts in Recovery name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property, and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.
7. Every Christian Food Addicts in Recovery group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.
8. Christian Food Addicts in Recovery should remain forever non-professional, but our service centers may employ special workers.
9. Christian Food Addicts in Recovery as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.
10. Christian Food Addicts in Recovery has no opinion on outside issues; hence the Christian Food Addicts in Recovery name ought never be drawn into public controversy.
11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.
12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.
Visit our website, www.ChristianFoodAddicts.weebly.com. You will find the following information: The 12-steps with their Biblical comparisons, a list of additional Christian meetings, the Format for this meeting, and how to be added to our Facebook page.
The Christian Food Addicts in Recovery Group Conscience meetings will be held the first Sunday of the month at 6:55 AM EST (after our regular meeting).
Phone Meeting Guidelines
1. When connecting to the bridge, you come in muted. In order to ensure a quiet meeting, please keep your phone muted at all times unless you are sharing. Press *1 to unmute, then *1 to mute again. Press (*) for other phone bridge instructions.
2. By group conscience we do not mention specific foods by name, or which food fellowship or church affiliation we belong to. We share the common denominator that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.
3. Please no cross talk, which is speaking directly to another person rather than to the group, interrupting the person who is sharing, or speaking positively or negatively about a previous share. We want all to feel welcome here. We speak from our own perspective, using “I” or "for me" statements.
4. We would like everyone to have a chance to share at least once in three-minute increments, especially the newcomer if you wish to share. The timer person gently says the word "time" at 3 minutes. Kindly acknowledge the timer and wrap up your share at that time. Please limit your sharing to no more than twice per meeting. Is there someone able to do service by keeping time this morning? *** (Moderator: Please ask for a bible reader at this time if needed).

Who would like to read Paul's Prayer for Spiritual Empowerment found in Ephesians 3:14-21?
When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May He be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen
Thank you for being here and for sharing. We will close with the Lord's prayer. Will someone volunteer to lead us in the Lord's prayer in the expression of your choice?
Our Father who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever and ever. Amen
Remember, "We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us." (Philippians 4:13)
